What is Personal Structures?
From 9 May to
22 November 2026
Personal Structures is the biennial contemporary art exhibition organised by the European Cultural Centre Italy in Venice, held alongside the Venice Art Biennale.
The 2026 edition, Confluences, celebrates the intersections of people, stories, and disciplines, a space where diverse perspectives merge to forge new currents in contemporary art.

For its eighth edition, Personal Structures takes Confluences as its theme: an image that recalls rivers meeting and creating new currents. It is a powerful metaphor to describe how people, cultures, and experiences can come together, influence one another, and give rise to fresh perspectives. The exhibition is built on the idea that individual stories are never isolated, but part of a larger, ever-changing collective fabric.
Confluences becomes a space for dialogue, where diverse voices intersect and open the way to new possibilities for imagining both our present and our future. Art, society, nature, and technology converge in a journey that invites reflection on how we can live together more consciously and sustainably.
Why should you participate?
International Exposure
Taking place in Venice, Personal Structures – Confluences offers a unique platform to connect with an international network of artists, curators, and cultural institutions. More than just an exhibition, it is an invitation to be carried by new ideas, to discover the richness of encounter, and to contribute your voice to a global current of creativity and reflection within one of the most inspiring contexts in the contemporary art world.

Historical Locations
• Palazzo Mora, a 300-year-old Venetian palace, provides a distinctive venue with historic charm and versatile spaces ideal for tailored installations.
• Palazzo Bembo, a 15th-century venue, perfectly houses various art forms, with its symmetrical rooms on both floors enhancing the artworks’ narrative.
• The Marinaressa Gardens are the perfect location close to Piazza San Marco and La Biennale. These public gardens are not only a key passage in front of the lagoon but also a perfect canvas for installations that harmonise with the landscape.
