Utopia/Dystopia of Digital Humanism

Thanks to a special composition of international people, this workshop will discuss what the greatest fears and challenges are of digitalization as well as the expectations we have of it

The Austrian Heinz von Förster already put it, in a nutshell, many years ago: "Man is not a trivial machine", and Nida Rümelin clearly states that "machines are not people". It is about the special nature of humans and their abilities that must be considered in the context of digitalization. The aim of this workshop is to discuss what the greatest fears and challenges of digitalization are, but also the expectations of it. This topic is particularly interesting to discuss in Venice, a place where people from different nations, disciplines and orientations meet. This special composition of people will find answers to questions and raise new issues, which we want to further discuss during the live stream of the Wiener Zeitung. How can social values be promoted as prosocial and succeed in diverse and multicultural societies? And what is your opinion? Come and join us!
