Personal Structures by Night

18:00 - 21:00 | Palazzo Mora

The sixth edition of the biennial contemporary art exhibition Personal Structures presents a wide selection of more than 200 works by emerging and internationally renowned artists, photographers and sculptors, as well as projects by academic institutions. With a strong presence of female participants and a total contribution from 51 countries, the European Cultural Centre presents a never-before-seen edition, which this year revolves around the idea of reflections.

Got Umbrella

17:00 - 18:00 | Campo S.S. Giovanni e Paolo

Performance curated by Professor Petra Kempf revolving around the creation of a common ground.

Professor Petra Kempf from the University of Washington in St. Louis, presents, for the second time in Venice, the performance GOT UMBRELLA. By playing different roles and wearing diverse masks, the urban inhabitants re-configure the condition by which they live and interact. As individuals interact with one another new connections arise while others fade away, creating a common ground informed and imagined by many people at a time. Within this context, urban inhabitants create provisional counter-configurations through which different social constellations emerge. Situated in a field of changing relations, the emergent configurations are not just a form or a product through which social interactions unfold, but a perpetual generator for emerging configurations-configurations that are also conflicting in nature.

Glory to the Queen

18:30 - 20:00 | Palazzo Michiel

Screening of the film and meeting with the director of the movie Tatia Skhirtladze. In collaboration with Circolo Scacchistico Veneziano Salvioli & Alpe Adria Cinema - Trieste Film Festival.

Leading us to Tbilisi, Georgia, Glory to the Queen reveals the interwoven biographies of the world chess heroes Nona Gaprindashvili, Nana Alexandria, Maia Chiburdanidze and Nana Loseliani. It offers rare insight into their recent lives while at the same time exploring their lasting legacy. Today they are ageing women, ordinary and extreme, pedantic and free. The city, indeed the whole country, is still marked by them – even if these marks are slowly fading.

Tentacoli

19:00 - 20:00 | Palazzo Mora

Performance by artist Riccardo Antonio Leone involving the live creation of a suspended sculpture.

The iconic venue of Palazzo Mora will be the backdrop for Riccardo Antonio Leone’s performance Tentacoli. Using a 3D pen and recycled plastic, the young artist will shape a suspended sculpture, which will be created by tracing the movements of a dancer. The artistic research addresses the concept of the Fifth Dimension, namely the idea of overcoming Space and Time, with the aim of going beyond them.
