Wu Deng-yi


Wu Deng-yi (b.1951), Taiwan’s well-known contemporary color ink painter, inherits the crystallization of collective intelligence of Chinese and creates Chinese ink painting for almost 60 years. Based on his encyclopedic knowledge of traditional Chinese painting and modern Western art, he amalgamates the old with the new and infuses east and west. By studying and integrating a wide range of contemporary color ink techniques, Wu Deng-yi establishes a new and iconic “Imaginary Color Ink Shanshui” style. Wu Dengyi Art Museum (Taiwan) is sited in Tamsui, the Dr Mackay’s ‘Missionary House’. The Museum embark upon renovating it as the New Taipei venue. Wu’s art publications and achievement is going to write a brand new page for this historical building.
