Alf Setzer was born in 1956. From 1976 to 1981 he first studied painting, then sculpture at the Braunschweig University of Fine Arts He was a teacher for sculpture at the State Academy of Fine Arts in Stuttgart from 1993 to 2021. He has worked with a wide variety of media and genres of art, from sculpture to cabaret. His preferred materials are stone and glass, but his repertoire als includes metal, plastics, videos or performances. The focus of his work is on the discourse of multimodal expressiveness, which arises from the material´s dispute and confrontation with its environment and context. The artist lives and works in Stuttgart, Germany.
