Turning The World Upside Down

The University of Applied Arts Vienna invites you to join an interactive workshop part of the series 'Opera Aperta' which will focus on the inclusion of people with disabilities.

When we speak of inclusion of people with disabilities, we mostly consider increasing their visibility and their right to a place in society. With the interdisciplinary project Turning the World Upside Down the University of Applied Arts Vienna investigates the possibilities of collaborations between artists and people with mental disabilities. The aim of their work is not for artists to bring their work to the world of people with disabilities – rather people with disabilities should bring their unique perspectives, approaches, and questions to the table and in that way change the perspectives and processes of the artists. The aim is an exchange of competences between equals.

A theatre/performance ensemble of artists with disabilities has been established in collaboration with the art association Griessner Stadl, Lebenshilfe Murau, theatre director Franz Xaver Mayr and costume designer Korbinian Schmidt.

Griessner Stadl Staff: Ferdinand Nagele, David Rauter, Philipp Rirsch, Daniel Wiedemaier, Anita Winkler

Lebenshilfe Murau Staff: Gert Engelbrecht, Miriam Sumann, Patricia Weinberger, Melanie Pichler

Artists: Manfred Daros, Tamara Hotter, Alexandra Leitgeb, Franz-Xaver Mayr, Andreas Oberweger, Korbinian Schmidt, Marina Trippl, Gerhard Url

Angewandte: L. Vanessa Gruber, Ruth Mateus-Berr, David Piper
