The farewell journey of the Arena for a Tree: a final sunset on the water

Join us on the 1st of August between 8:00 and 9:00 PM for the sunset as the art installation Arena for a Tree by Klaus Littmann comes to a close after three and a half months.

The Arena for a Tree, an art installation that merges art and nature, is nearing its end in the lagoon city. Soon, we will no longer hear the chirping of the cicadas that have lived in the branches of the bald cypress, nor will we be able to use the wooden steps, designed to resemble the annual rings of a tree, as a place to rest. The installation provided a new perspective on our world and reminded us of the importance of careful stewardship of our environment.

The Arena will remain anchored in Venice until the 31st of July, after which the bald cypresses will be able to take root outside the pontoon, and perhaps still serve as a reminder of her performance in Venice even a hundred years from now.

The return journey over the water from the historic Arsenale Nord to the Marghera port marks the end of this project. Experience this captivating spectacle from the mainland along the route from Giardini Biennale, past San Marco, Punta della Dogana and up to Zattere.
