Making the Past Speak

An interdisciplinary conference at Palazzo Bembo exploring the dialogue between contemporary art and archaeology

This program is organised and hosted by the Barvinskyi Art Gallery, managed by Rosaura Cauchi. The Austrian Archaeological Institute (OeAI) acts as the cultural partner for the scientific programme. The scientific programme, organised by Barbara Horejs, is planned to accompany the artist-in-archaeology presentation of the former collaboration between the two institutions.

This roundtable features an open space and a dedicated discussion timeslot. It explores the vision of the OeAI through questions such as: What does contemporary art tell us about the human past? Which new or different perspectives on our shared world history are possible through art?

Moderator: Rosaura Cauchi, Director of Barvinskyi Art Gallery.
Prof. Barbara Horejs: Professor of Prehistory and Director of the OeAI.
Exhibiting Artists: Elham Hadian.
Academic Contributors: Students and researchers from Ca’ Foscari University, Venice.
