In this 35-minute live painting performance, artist Janus Hochgesand will create a new and unique work of art in front of the audience, accompanied live by cellist Lucia Rupert and violinist Friederike Kampik, performing music by Reinhold Glière and Pēteris Vasks.
Hochgesand’s artistic practice is a deeply physical and performative process. Using his hands, feet, and various tools, he applies oil paint and pigments directly onto a canvas laid on the floor. Guided by intuition and movement, and in dialogue with the music, the work gradually takes shape before the audience. Painting, body, sound, and space come together in a spontaneous creative process, making each performance the unique expression of a particular moment.
