This workshop deliberately focuses on the choice and preparation of materials. Intimately linked to the creative process, these stages are indeed decisive for carrying out a personal project. The artist invites each participant to follow the process of developing an artist’s book, encouraging them to be guided and carried by the rustling of textures, colours and words. Natural pigments – such as indigo, henna, ochres – marble powder, sand, plant seeds as well as all powdered pigments used in the manufacture of paint will be made available to all. The idea is to introduce participants to experimenting and preparing their own paint or material. And then encourage them to “shape” their own prototype of an Artist’s Book… Emphasis will be placed on the playful and exploratory side at work in the creative process. Disobeying fear, crossing new territories, opening the fields of possibility and sharing. Isn’t the Artist’s Book ultimately a “living cell” – one of the last refuges of the freedom to say, to write and create?
